Shandong mulls the building of cultural tourist destination brands

  A meeting was held to promote the building of the ten brands of cultural tourist destination on Aug. 30 in Jinan, east China’s Shandong Province. After the success of the brand of “Friendly Shandong”, Shandong Province mulls the breeding of ten cultural tourist destination brands and two implementation plans were discussed at the meeting.

  The final scheme is predicted to be unveiled next month. Tourism Development Committee of Shandong Province was inaugurated at the meeting and Yu Fenggui was appointed as its director.

  The ten brands are the Oriental Holy Land, Wonderful Seacoast, Ping’an Mount Tai, City of Springs, Ancient Capital of Qi, Grand Canal with Lu features, Birthplace of Water Margin, Estuary of the Yellow River, Affectionate Yimeng and Capital of Kite.

  Some of the brands cover several cities, such as the Wonderful Seacoast comprises Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai and Rizhao, Grand Canal with Lu features includes Zaozhuang, Jining, Tai’an, Liaocheng and Dezhou, while some cities each owns several brands or exclusively enjoys one brand, for example, Jining, the main city to foster the Oriental Holy Land brand, also plays an important role in the construction of the brand of Grand Canal with Lu features.

  Cities and counties in Shandong are expected to undertake the main body responsibility in the maintenance and building of the brand under the coordination of the Tourism Development Committee.
